Ruminations:  One man's views on the raising of sheep and farming in general

Ian with Minnie the lamb and Ben    I have always had a love for and natural bond with animals, particularly the kinds of animals you find around a farm, dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, goats, cows etc.  When I was a kid I always wanted to be a vet, a part of me still regrets not becoming one when I had the chance back in graduate school.  While I took a round about way to get here farming has always been in my soul.

My thinking on raising animals has always been centered around the concepts of doing what is right for the long term health of the land and what is right for the health and well being of the animals.  I believe that if we follow natures lead in looking after our land and animals we will profit from the higher quality products that they will provide us.

What follows are a series of short articles that explain some of my thinking and detail how I go about implementing that thinking.
